Medicare Rebates & Fees for Clinical Psychologists
Medicare Referrals
Clients with a relevant psychological problem and an appropriate Medicare referral from a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician may be eligible for Medicare rebates for up to 12 visits a year. The Medicare rebates are currently:
Appointments with a Clinical Psychologist: $117.75 per 50 minute individual consultation
Appointments with a Psychologist: $80.20 per 50 minute individual consultation
All the psychologists in our practice have a Masters or Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology and all have been accredited with Medicare to provide either specialist Clinical Psychology items or generalist psychology items. Clients consulting these clinicians should receive a $115.05 rebate under the Medicare guidelines (i.e. up to 12 visits per year with appropriate referral). If referred by a GP you must be referred under a GP Mental Health Care Plan to qualify for a Medicare rebate.
Medicare Rebates also apply to group therapy sessions with appropriate referrals.
Other Clients
The following services usually involve no fee to the client since we bill the relevant party directly:
* Workers Compensation claims (provided you have a referral from their GP or prior approval from the insurer).
* Motor Vehicle Accidents (provided you have a referral and have a CTP claim).
For other clients paying up front, a discount rate well below the APS recommended fee is charged. Please contact the office for details of the current rates.
Rebates are offered by many private health funds.
