Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Minfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines components of traditional cognitive therapy with more recently popularised mindfulness techniques. Cognitive Therapy aims to shift dysfunctional beliefs and thoughts in order to alter feelings and actions. Mindfulness on the other hand, aims to assist people to tolerate emotional pain and to remain present focussed rather than shifting backwards or forwards in time.
